My work is mainly location or historical based, created with gouache, chalk and brush pen mediums. My images are also put together on photoshop where the traditional meets the non-traditional, yet still keeping that hand made feel. Some images can be more graphical as well, even with a traditional beginning of the brush pen. Everything I have done are all similar themes but a variety of approaches, and leaning more towards an illustrative context.

The three themes that inform my research are gender, power and equality. I developed an interest in feminism and how women are depicted in art. In particular I am interested in how artists subvert distinct gender expectations and challenge patriarchal power. I want to uncover why, within art and society as a whole, we still battle with gender inequality and understand the constructs of masculinity vs. femininity.

Through painting and photography, my current practice aims to recapitulate the experience of being immersed within nature. Translating experience into expression, I focus specifically on the aesthetic appreciation of the landscape, which has evolved into an articulate understanding of how the mind and eye work when perceiving a scene.

'I mainly specialise in figurative compositions, life drawing and paintings and portraiture but enjoy landscape painting in watercolour and oils. I am also an illustrator and designer as well as a successful art teacher. My recent work has involved large commissions for the Catholic and Anglican Churches in Jersey.

I am inspired by direct observation through the tradition of “plein air” painting in oils. Jersey never fails to excite me, although I have been very fortunate to travel extensively in Europe. My mantra after a 25-year struggle is, keep it simple, do my very best, and rely on good luck!

I work in oils and my work focuses on portraiture and the human form. Recently my paintings have focused on capturing the characters of Jersey musicians and promoters.

Anita is a contemporary artist who is currently working between London and Jersey the Channel Islands. Anita has refined her technique of painting utilising an array of materials. Using wax, cement, wood, which combined with her eclectic use of oils, acrylics and emulsion produce both visually and texturally intriguing pieces of work.

From March to September 2009 Sara Job was the artist in residence for the National Trust for Jersey. As a painter, working predominately in oils, she produced work in responce to the Trust sites at The Elms and around the island. The residency culminated an exhibition in September and all work sold at the exhibition supported National Trust for Jersey funds.

I specialise in hand painted interior decoration, working in private houses and restaurants around the island. I was also very involved in the decoration of St Thomas' church, completing all of the pattern work, gilding and details during the restoration.

I am a landscape artist painting mostly maritime scenes of Jersey. I work in acrylic on canvas. I seek my inspiration from such artists as Constable, Turner, Canaletto and the American artist Norman Rockwell. Art cannot be explained in words, but, in an overly complex world, I'm interested in portraying the simple things in a primary or primitive style. I had a piece called 'Dog Walkers' shortlisted by the Royal Academy in London for their Summer Exhibition.

The paintings are highly detailed, large scale contemporary views of our marine landscape. The sculptures are dramatic large scale fabricated constructions of shoals of fish and flocks of birds. I am usually attracted by large vistas of our local coastline with a strong perspective viewpoint as they suit my geometric style of painting. I do enjoy the endless permutations of colour though strong and vibrant tones often predominate.

The Channel Islands form an archipelago of exceptional beauty, 19 miles off the north-west coast of France. My art to date has been primarily an attempt to capture the atmosphere created by their unique combination of environmental ingredients, including huge tidal ranges, reefs, richly varied landscapes and geology and distinctive marine and countryside habitats.

A Graduate from Brighton Art College and qualified Teacher, Adele's work has always been concerned with colour and movement; the rhythmical interlocking shapes of the human form or landscape. She was shortlisted for the Millennium Town Park Sculpture Award 2011. Jersey Heritage commissioned her to write the Teacher’s Information Pack to support the ‘Modern Masters’ exhibition. Adele works in both two and three dimensions and runs art workshops in Jersey.

I'm a gallery/street artist that enjoys different ways of working. When i paint i tend not to plan them i use my imagination as a guide. I paint on many different mediums. My experimental paintings are done on cardboard, which i place on and around the streets. I look for the most interesting buildings to enhance the paintings, i usually make them derelict buildings (my favourite buildings) so that they look more interesting to people.
