Thomas Dingle – Creative Director
Aside from the business end of the Trust, Tom’s role focuses on the literary and performing arts with film. Since arriving at the Trust, Tom has looked at initiatives that bring these different skills together to form creative partnerships and has invited industry professionals to the island to help develop this.
An English graduate from the University of Exeter, Tom’s background is mainly in theatre having directed a range of productions in the UK and run his own company. Away from the Trust Tom very occasionally plays the drums and sometimes even manages to read.
Raewyn Greggain – Visual Arts Co-ordinator
After graduating in Model Making and 3D design at Sunderland University, Raewyn worked as a commercial sculptor and designer for Warner Bros, Border Fine Arts and Enesco Ltd. She studied PGCE Secondary School Art at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2002 and alongside this worked with The St Francis and Gorton Monastery Trust delivering and composing community arts project with the aim of social regeneration in the Lancashire area.
For several years after she worked as a Freelance sculptor, designer and arts consultant for private and commercial clients such as Granada Studios, Inside Out Trust, Country Artists, and World Owl Trust. Alongside which she delivered Education workshop in Secondary and Primary Schools throughout Cumbria, devised and delivered INSET Teacher Training for Cumbria Education Authority and was then employed as Coordinator for the Rural Touring Scheme Copeland Borough Council.
She personally understands the value of art in life and continues to develop her own practice as a sculptor.
Trustees
Alan Le Breton – Chairman
Alan Le Breton joined the Jersey Arts Trust board in 2007 after a long career in radio production and journalism. Born in Jersey and educated at Hautlieu School, he engaged in the ‘usual’ run of arts, music and amateur dramatics, becoming seriously involved in the media at University during the early days of Local Radio. From there it was a predictable step to national broadcasting with the BBC. He moved to the international microphone of the BBC’s World Service, covering stories from the Falkands War to the fall of communism, eventually becoming Managing Editor of News & Current Affairs.
Since returning to the Island, he has become a regular columnist for the Jersey Evening Post, and now divides his time between a busy local schedule and occasional expeditions with his French wife, Isabelle, to the vineyards near Bordeaux.
David Green – Treasurer
David Green was appointed Treasurer of the Jersey Arts Trust in February, 2008. He is currently a Partner with a local firm of chartered accountants, Moore Stephens, and has been involved in the arts ever since he moved to the Channel Islands in 1988. Originally working in Guernsey, he was a volunteer for many of Guernsey’s art-based projects and when he had the opportunity to transfer to Jersey with Moore Stephens, he continued to work in the voluntary sector on arts-based projects, particularly the Jersey Arts Centre. His voluntary roles at the Jersey Arts Centre were varied but for a time focused on stage management.
As Partner he has been Engagement Partner for a number of audits of arts-based organisations on the Island. Like his fellow Trustees, David is passionate about the arts and crafts.
Rhona Richards – Vice-Chairman
Rhona Richards studied English and Drama at Exeter University. On graduating she joined the Theatre in Education Company, Baggage, as a writer and actor. Rhona returned to Jersey to work as Assistant Stage Manger at the Jersey Arts Centre before joining Channel Television as a newsreader and presenter. In 1997 she requalified as a Barrister. After several years in London practising family law Rhona returned to Jersey and qualified as a local Advocate. Rhona is passionate about the arts, particularly the theatre, literature and music.
Alison Richards
Jersey born and educated, Alison is a practising artist and lecturer in art and photography. After a foundation course in art at Winchester, she studied scientific illustration at Southampton. She worked as a graphic designer for Hampshire County Council Museums Service in Winchester for several years before returning to Jersey. When the youngest of her family started school she completed Plymouth University’s part time BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art at Highlands College where she is currently a visiting lecturer in art & photography.
Alison joined the Jersey Arts Trust in January 2009. She strongly believes in the importance of working with art students as a practising artist – each occupation enhances the other, fulfils potentials, explores possibilities and it is so rewarding to see young artists develop and follow their dreams.
Andrew Scott-Miller
One of the UK’s first internet entrepreneurs, Andrew has more than 15 years’ experience in new media, online sales and marketing. After leaving De Montfort University, he worked initially for one of the first internet services providers in London before setting up Zero Communications, which he later sold during the ‘dot com’ boom. Since moving to Jersey, Andrew has been responsible for the launch of both channelonline.tv and Jersey Insight as well as for the launch and development of Sure Mobile and a range of other diverse projects.
In 2006, he set up Funky Puffin, with the aim of creating a global surf, beach and board sports lifestyle brand, which has an emphasis on sustainability and protecting the environment at its core. The winner of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) award for best marketing achievement on a small budget in 2008, Andrew also received a special commendation for marketing excellence.
A former runner-up in the Jersey Awards for Enterprise ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’, Andrew is passionate about all aspects of new media and the potential it offers to all businesses and industry sectors, including the arts and heritage
Allan Watts
Allan is a Director at Orchid Communications where he leads on a number of finance and technology clients as well as heading up the company’s training and video businesses.
He was formerly Head of News at ITV in the Channel Islands and worked as a journalist for more than 20 years in both print and broadcast media.
A graduate of Nottingham Law School, specializing in privacy and the media, Allan is married with two children. As a member of the Samares Players Allan has spent many years performing and directing Shakespeare in the open air.
Emma O’Prey
Emma’s career to date has been committed to developing talent, specifically in the field of Drama and Music. She is now the Head of Drama and Theatre Studies at Victoria College where she has taught for 8 years. She is impressed by the level of talent within the student body and is very interested in helping students to fulfil their ambitions and potential within the performing arts. Prior to her return home to Jersey in 2002, she worked in the heart of the music industry in London as an artist manager for several years and briefly as a recording studio manager. Emma is especially interested in the development and growth of young bands in the Island and has always been keen to give advice and guidance to anyone interested in a career in the music industry. She very much enjoys her work as a Trustee for the Jersey Arts Trust and feels strongly that Jersey’s thriving cultural and artistic community should continue to be supported and invested in, not only fiscally, but through guidance and the creation of important opportunities.
Gordon Fitzjohn
Gordon has spent his entire career in the finance sector, retiring from Deutsche Bank at the end of 2004 after 25 years service during which he established the Morgan Grenfell fund services business and was the global head of the division within Deutsche Bank responsible for the establishment of cross border investment and other structures. Gordon now acts as a consultant to a number of onshore, as well as offshore businesses.
He has always maintained an active interest in the arts and whilst at Deutsche Bank instigated the sponsorship of the Jersey Eisteddfod, which Deutsche Bank, as well as the Jersey Arts Trust continue to sponsor to this day. Gordon is an active supporter of visual arts in contrast to his daughters who are progressing careers in London in the music and film production sectors. Gordon is an ardent believer that the finance sector in Jersey should proactively support the local cultural and artistic community and enjoys his role matching Jersey Arts Trust sponsorship opportunities with the members of the finance sector
